Abstract Though greater intergroup contact has been shown to predict support for social change among advantaged group members, little is known about what occurs during the that may encourage members of groups become willing engage in collective action solidarity with disadvantaged. We argue disadvantaged motivate members’ willingness through mediating pathway communication differences power contact. Two studies tested this proposition by examining how communicate two distinct national contexts: White Americans Black U.S. (Study 1) and Turks Kurds Turkey 2).
